I had seen the mountain only in Pictures, never imagining that I would be able to stand on the Deck of our retreat center and Stare at Pikes Peak in person. What had I expected, a Towering massive rock? Yes. But in reality it was much more, Majestic and magnificent. The clouds floated above and Below the summit while the Tree line marked the higher elevations, Not yet capped by snow but with Splendor. Three big eared mule deer strolled on The grassy area beneath us Unmindful that they were being Watched. The mountain rock changed from Shades of gray to beige as the Sun rays shifted position. Like David, I lifted my eyes to the Hills trying to memorize every Detail in case I never saw the Peak again. And as I intensely viewed the Mountain I treasured the thought that The Mountain Maker was intensely Watching over me. Psalm 121 |
