Stove waiting for them to arrive.
My first husband's niece, Miranada, was
Passing through Columbus taking her
Two daughters back to school.
It's quite a trip from New York City to
Indiana and Illinois, especially in
Bitter cold and snow.
Since I rarely see these relatives our
Brief reunion was a treat.
I pulled out old albums to show them
Photos they had never seen and my
Niece pulled up pictures on her phone to
Show me relatives I've never met.
I listened to the girls share their future plans and
I encouraged them in their pursuits.
They are both marvelous musicians, Kara playing
The cello and Daniella the flute.
We lingered over soup and salad and
Dessert until it began to get dark and they
Needed to be on their way.
Min has been long gone, 42 years now,
But I'm glad his niece and her daughters still
Claim me as one of their own.
