It was a peak color day at the park. I told one of the other walkers, "Everything is Downhill from here." As I strolled along the trail soaking up the Splendor of the glorious gold leaves, I Noticed a small colored stone on top of An old tree stump. It was painted like an ice-cream cone. I picked it up, turned it over and found a Message on the back: "Re-hide or take it With you.--You decide." I decided to place it back where I found it for Someone else to discover. But on my return trip, I changed my mind. I collected the hidden treasure and held it Snugly in my hand. Back at my car I asked a friendly lady to Take a picture of the flat stone. I returned to the trail and placed it on a Small stump that was shaped like a chair. I wondered who would find it. In the distance I noticed a woman with a Young boy, perhaps 3 or 4, heading my Way. I approached her and pointed out the stump. "If your son searches, he may find a Surprise hidden there." I stood back and watched. The child ran to the spot and picked up the Stone. "Let me take a picture," his mother said. But it was already tucked away in the Little boy's pocket and he balked at Retrieving it. Will his mother convince her son to Hide it again? I rather doubt it. I suspect that the roaming stone has finally Found a home. |
