The leaves are mostly gone, Relegated now to ground cover. The stark trees blend in with the Dreary landscape. But I notice the bare limbs and Branches that splay out from the Slender gray trunks, distinct and Yet intricately intertwined. I pinpoint a squirrel scampering to Its nest in a high up crotch. I'm finally able to spot the edge of The ravine that cuts through the Woods behind our house, all Features that were obscured when The foliage flourished. Barrenness isn't all bad. When the green leaves turned Gold are stripped away I'm able To hone in on the unique beauty That has been hiding there all along. |
