Reminisce before I doze off.
I choose to relive the exciting days when
Jack and I moved from my small yellow
House to his condo, our "love nest" he
Called it.
Since I was teaching he was the one
Who hauled box after box to Good Will.
He was still strong.
We were still starry eyed.
The days were idyllic ones as we
Kept house together and pinched
Ourselves to see whether our romance
Was real.
I find, as I lie alone in our bed that
Was meant for two, that it is more
Difficult to stuff the sweet moments
Back into my memory bank than it
Was to release them.
And I discover that it takes me longer than
Usual to fall asleep.
