Favorite park, I took one of Reggie's
Books along, just in case.
After my glorious stroll through the
Woods I got behind the wheel of my
Car and prayed, "Lord, if I spy a
Chinese person, I'll give him a book."
At the very next shelter house I saw a
Group of Asian women and children.
I couldn't believe it.
I walked up to one of the moms and
Asked, "Are you Chinese?"
"No." They were Japanese.
I told them to enjoy their picnic, and a bit
Deflated, I moved on.
I finally stopped at the nature center and
Noticed the man in his SUV with his
Window down.
"Are you Chinese?"
He was Korean.
We laughed and agreed that it's often hard to
Distinguish ethnicities.
The couple near the observation deck
Proved to be Japanese as well, as did the
Man and wife in the parking lot in their truck.
I was ready to give up.
But then I spotted the lone girl sitting on a bench.
I was wrong about her background too.
She was of Okinawan descent.
Nevertheless, I struck up a conversation with her.
She is studying Plant Science at Columbus State.
I finally showed her my bracelet and asked if
She would like to have it.
"Yes." she said.
After I explained the colors I asked if she
Had a prayer request.
Again, her answer was, "Yes."
Her parents were having marital problems and
I could see that she was upset.
Right then, I put my hand on her shoulder and
Prayed for her family.
The gal was grateful.
"If I hadn't been searching for a Chinese person,
I wouldn't have found you," I told her.
And I walked to my car with the book still
Tucked under my arm.
