People talk about paying it forward, or
Is it really paying it back?
It seems like both apply.
I had never done it before, but
I set out for McDonalds early this
Morning since the rest of my
Day is packed full.
I made two trips around the building, and
Then stopped for a little while until
I saw a car pulling up.
I placed my order, "A senior cup of
Coffee, and I'd like to pay for the
Next one in line," hoping the person wasn't
Buying for everyone in the office.
(Actually, the driver's order turned out
To be less than $4.00.)
As an extra perk, I gave the cashier
Two of my leftover candy canes, one
For herself, and the other for the
Gifted one in the little red car waiting
Behind me.
I like to think when he gets to work
He'll say, "Guess what! Someone
Bought my breakfast today."
And now I'll go drink my coffee which
Probably needs to be warmed
In the microwave.
