Teaching me how to be a facilitator for
A grief support group.
The instructor gave a warning:
"Don't try to'fix'anyone.
You can't do it, and if you try, the
Person will become uncomfortable.
The focus will shift from them to you."
Today as I listened to a friend share an
Unbelievable trial she is facing, my
First inclination was to suggest how I
Would handle it.
But then I remembered the teacher's
Words and refrained.
I can listen intently.
I can ask questions.
I can encourage.
I can pray.
I can even give advice if I'm asked.
But I must acknowledge that there are
Situations and people I just can't fix.
