Ninety nine years should be long
Enough for anyone.
But when I heard that Gib was gone, I
Still wasn't quite ready.
I've written about the dear gentleman for
Years.
He was my war hero,
A sterling example of a family
Man,
An optimist despite his circumstances,
And my stalwart friend.
I often sat with him in his garage as we
Looked out at the lawn and sky and the
Trees.
He saw only beauty.
I'll always view that spot of green space by
His condo through Gib's eyes.
"It's the best place in the world," he
Told me.
And now I believe he's telling me,
"Dorothy, you won't believe it.
I've discovered the best place of
All."
And I look forward to sitting beside him
And enjoying the view.
