Nursing home.
I was subbing as the piano player, not
The speaker.
But I felt compelled to take along my
Color beaded bracelets.
I expected no more than 15 residents to
Attend the service, but I stuffed 20 bracelets
In my little gift bag just in case.
After the speaker gave his message I
Presented the Good News that always
Seems to get better with the retelling.
But as I counted the people who
Were gathered, I wondered,
Would I have enough bracelets?
They were so eager to get them.
As the speaker and I tied the leather
Straps to their wrists, several of the
Residents wanted an extra to give to
Family and friends.
I searched in my purse and found two
Stashed away.
I was relieved that the need was met,
But not quite yet.
I noticed that a young attendant pushing a
Woman in a wheelchair was wearing
Several bracelets.
"Would you like another?" I asked.
"Yes," he said.
And I removed the one I was wearing, the very
Last one, and secured it to his wrist while I explained
The way of salvation to him.
Wow!
Just enough bracelets!
"Thank You, Lord!"
I had miscalculated, but
God hadn't.
