Community mailboxes, so I
Rushed out to hand her some letters that
I needed to send.
As she slipped envelopes and
Packages into our mail slots,
We got acquainted.
"Tell me about yourself."
"I moved here to take care of my
Parents," she said, "My mom has
Alzheimers. We just placed her
In a facility, and my stepdad is
Paralyzed from his neck down."
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
"It's hard," she responded, "But
God gives me strength."
"Oh, you're a believer!"
"Yes."
I shared my own story, and as she desposited
The mail, we encouraged each other,
Spurred one another on to love and
Good deeds.
I ran into the house to get her a copy of MENDING.
"I believe there's a reason I was here today,"
She told me.
"Yes, it's what I call a divine appointment.
I pray for them every day."
"I'm your regular carrier, so maybe I'll see you again."
I'll watch for her and try to make sure it happens.
As she drove off in her red, white, and blue truck I was
Thankful that my new friend and I had exchanged much
More than just mail.
(And I hoped our conversation hadn't caused her to
Put letters in the wrong slot.)
