My piano is a tiny one, unlike any I have Ever seen, a conversation piece. It was passed on from a friend to my Daughter, and finally on to me. It just fits in the corner of my living room Positioned between two windows. Who knows when it was last tuned? Sometimes the keys stick and the Tone quality is mediocre, just like my Musical skills. When I take the time to play a hymn or Two, I do it quietly, not wanting to disturb The peace. But yesterday was an exception. Since our neighborhood needed to "Easter at home," I was asked to open my Windows and accompany a group of us While we sang "Amazing Grace." My aging piano and I rose to the occasion. For the first time I struck the keys fiercely, Sending the familiar melody soaring Through the screened openings to my Neighbors gathered on the lawn, distancing Themselves, yet connected in celebration. Amazing grace, indeed, that could save a Wretch like me! How sweet was the sound of it! It was my seasoned instrument's finest Moment, leading my friends and me in open Air worship on Easter Sunday morning. |
