Her folks didn't take her to
Church as a child.
Now, I take her along with me.
Today in our Sunday school class
She heard our teacher relate the
Story of Jonah.
Actually, since her hearing is
Poor, I explained the plot to
Her on the way home.
Amazingly, it was new to her.
She was intrigued by the
Story, how Jonah ran away from
God, was caught up in a
Hurricane force storm and was
Tossed overboard.
"It's a lesson for us," I told her.
"We can't run away from God,
Not ever. Some folks wish they
COULD flee, to hide their evil deeds.
But those of us who follow Him are
Glad He sticks with us like glue.
We can't do life without Him."
"What happened to the man?" my
Friend asked.
"That's where we pick up next week,"
I told her. "Dan will begin chapter 2."
But I couldn't keep her in suspense.
"He gets swallowed by a big fish."
"Wow!"
I've heard the familiar story ever
Since I was a tyke in my little country
Church.
But it seems new and exciting when
I share the account with a friend who
Is hearing it for the very first time.
