Daughter's living room,
Appropriate, since our courtship was
Such a short one, 28 days to be exact, and
We didn't have much time to plan a
Wedding.
I'm glad Jack and I didn't delay since our 14 years
Together were too few.
When a spouse is gone, it's tempting to
Idolize him, to recall only his good points.
I do that.
I remember a husband who treasured me above
Himself, and God above me.
He was the man I prayed for,
Godly,
Intelligent,
Gentle with a
Sense of humor.
He made me laugh.
He was a master chef.
He crafted hundreds of knives and
When he couldn't handle his equipment
Safely, he moved on to painting.
I loved the fact that Jack never stopped
Calling me his bride.
True, Jack had flaws, and so do I,
But "love covers a multitude of sins," *
And the love Jack and I shared more then
Covered our imperfections.
Today I choose to remember only my
Husband's delightful qualitites.
I'll leaf through our happy photo album and
Relive our sweet ceremony.
I'll kiss his wedding picture on the wall.
It's my quiet way of celebrating our
Anniversary.
