Man who stood beside his dad.
He tried a number of times to make me
Comprehend.
Finally I got it. "Tyler."
"He has autism," his dad explained.
"What is your request?"
"That I will have good behavior."
As I held his hand and prayed, his mom
Joined us.
I shared a Chinese proverb that
MIn's auntie Zi had shared with me.
"You're an only child which makes
You a treasure. You are a gem in the
Palm of your parents. God has a
Special plan for you. I have been
So blessed to pray with you."
As they walked away, I noticed the
Dad pass a love glance to his boy.
When I first saw the woman, I noticed
Her eyes couldn't focus.
She was blind,
Had always been,
But her life had been full, she said.
Just like me, she was a widow and
We shared the name, Dorothy, too.
She still struggled with the decision she
Made to end her husband's life support.
We prayed, and I knew I had brought a copy
Of MENDING just for her.
"My friend will read it to me," she said.
The mom I greeted had a heavy heart.
Her son was an alcoholic.
"What's his name?" I asked.
"John."
The connection was immediate.
"My husband was named John,
And God delivered him from alcohol."
My prayer for him was fervent.
She hugged me when she left,
And I'll easily remember him.
Tyler, Dorothy, John.
Three of the many who
Passed my way.
Three of the reasons I went
To the fair to pray.
