Family and friends swoop in and
The celebration begins.
We hold hands around the table and
Pray.
We each read a Thanksgiving Bible verse.
We eat.
A few of us sleep.
One takes a walk at the park.
Several play dominoes.
We laugh.
We share concerns.
We never once mention politics.
The boys focus on their electronic
Devices but take breaks to eat some more.
And suddenly, after warm good-byes,
They're all gone.
The day after, I take time to ponder our hours
Together.
They were good ones filled with joy.
But I find new reasons to pray, for job
Issues, for school concerns, for
Relationships.
A family always faces challenges.
I wonder how different Thanksgiving will be
Twenty years down the road.
Will I be here?
It doesn't matter.
I'm thankful my loved ones stored up memories of
Grandma's hugs and love on this
Thanksgiving Day.
