Last fall I dug up my amaryllis bulb. I stored it in the cold garage for Several months until it was time to Repot it and bring it inside. I placed the plant by a sunny Window and watered it faithfully. But, alas, it wouldn't grow! Week after week the bulb languished With no sign of life. When I finally dumped the brown Clump out of the container I began to Laugh, stunned at my stupidity. I had planted the bulb upside down, And the topsy turvy plant had tried Its best to send out shoots in its dark Cramped quarters. Could I undo my damage? I repotted the bulb properly and Nursed it along. Voila! It's blooming! My spunky amaryllis bulb just wouldn't Give up. And now, despite its stunted deformed Stem, it has produced a lovely flower, A picture to me of tenacity and hope. |
