Nudges when the Lord
Wants me to speak up,
But today I really resisted.
I was leaving the library when
I noticed an Asian young man
Sitting outside on a bench absorbed
In his hand held device, just
Minding his own business, when
I felt like I should approach him.
"But Lord," I argued,
"He would think I'm crazy," and
I continued to my car.
But I simply couldn't drive
Away,
My heart was pounding too
Hard and I couldn't
Disobey.
I walked back to the bench,
Sat beside him and asked,
"May I share something
With you?"
He was startled, but he
Agreed to listen.
Fortunately, I was wearing my
Gospel bracelet, and I
Pointed to the yellow bead.
"Do you believe in heaven?"
"I have no religion," was
His response.
Regardless, I continued on.
I explained the gospel colored
Beads, gave him a pamphlet that
Explained in more detail,
And we began to chat.
He is Yu, a student at a
Michigan university, but
Was visiting his wife who
Works nearby.
He asked me about my
Church,
And I asked him about China.
I told him Min was born there and
Showed him pictures of my
Family.
And then, he mentioned his
Grandmother.
"She's a Christian," he said.
"What!"
I was amazed.
A Christian grandma in secular
China?
"Yes, she goes to church every
Week-end."
I was beginning to get vibes
About our visit.
"I bet she prays for you."
He nodded.
"That's why I needed to talk
To you," I surmised.
"I believe God sent me in
Answer to her prayers."
We visited a few minutes more,
And as I left Yu sitting on the
Bench perusing the literature,
I told him with a big grin.
"Now you have two grandmas
Praying for you."
And I remembered Jack's words,
"You're in real trouble if you
Have a praying grandma."
In Yu's case, double trouble.
