It was a bitter bleak afternoon, but I had been inside too long. I forced myself to bundle up and Traverse the paved path across the Street. I was the lone soul dodging the Goose droppings as I passed the Pond. I counted nine geese in the gaggle that Was floating on the charcoal colored Water. I hoped that one of them hadn't lost Its mate. The sky was a sad drab gray without a Single speck of blue poking through. And the barren landscape was Uninviting, almost begging me to turn Back until spring. But I pressed on. I cupped my gloved fingers over my nose Trying to warm the tip just a bit. Looking for something positive to attract my Attention, I purposely noticed the few Evergreen trees, ever green, and thanked God for creating color that would last all Winter. I was glad the foot path was a short one. Like a horse nearing its stable my steps Quickened as I headed home. Back inside, I stretched out in my Recliner. I decided that the best part of My winter venture was warming my Hands with a hot cup of coffee and Toasting my toes with a heating bag Hot out of my microwave oven. |
