It's common courtesy to Acknowledge a gift, whether It's a tangible one or simply a Kind word or deed. But does gratitude come Naturally? If so, why did I need to teach my Preschoolers to repeat the two Words over and over again until It became second nature: "Thank you." Gratitude is both taught and Caught. I've found it's easy to be Thankful when all's right with My little world. But it takes practice to Practice thanksgiving when my Heart is heavy. I don't have an opt out clause. Scripture tells me to give Thanks always, in every situation. I have reminders scattered Around my house. And I've discovered that when I Choose to give thanks despite my Circumstances, my sense of Foreboding is replaced by hope. My Father reminds me, "Dorothy, I know. I'm carrying you. I'm still in charge." |
