Gospel" fleeces the sheep and
Only prospers the pernicious
Preachers who preach it.
"Beware of false prophets, who
come to you in sheep's clothing but
inwardly they are ravenous wolves."
Matthew 7:15
It seems to me that the "Prosperity
Gospel" fleeces the sheep and Only prospers the pernicious Preachers who preach it. "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravenous wolves." Matthew 7:15

It was my friend's birthday so I
Treated her to lunch. She is an incredible woman, still Sharp and spry at 94. As I always do, I asked our server if She had a prayer request. "I'm trying to figure out life, " the Young gal shared. I turned to my seasoned sister. "What advice would you give Marie?" Without hesitating Helen said, "I've Learned to let go of my problems and Let God handle them. They're too big for me. Let go and let God." Helen's long productive life Demonstrates the truth of her Advice. The obstacles she has overcome are Monumental. As a young person she skied to freedom From her communist occupied country. She has persevered through heartache. She keeps fit. She is my inspiration. I hope Marie takes Helen's words to heart. I've tucked them inside mine.
I met the new widow two weeks ago but
Hadn't yet followed up in contacting her. Busying myself around the house I felt Guilty. "Give her a call." I searched in my purse for the woman's Number wondering whether she would Be home. She was, and the timing was perfect for She had wanted to contact me but had lost My number. The gal feels lost, herself, wandering around in Her empty house with nothing to do but to Grieve. "Talking on the phone helps," she told me. "You are an answer to prayer today." We both sensed that God was behind the Timely call, and we encouraged one Another as we compared notes, As we spoke of heartache, And healing and Hope. Over and over again I'm learning that
God allows us to experience the same Trials as our brothers and Sisters so that we can hurt with those Who hurt and pray with greater Understanding and compassion. God was disheartened.
He had rescued His people from Bondage in Egypt and Wanted to fill them with the Finest of foods in the Promised Land, Not just the physical variety but Spiritual nourishment as well. But they refused to listen. They would have "none' of Him. In response God simply left His Children to their own devices to Follow their downward path until in Their destitue state they called on Him for help. When our own offspring refuse to Listen to reason and follow their own Folly, Sometimes the best approach is God's approach. Psalm 81 Fear.
It's insidious. It cripples me. It attacks at my weakest Moments. And even though I know the "Fear not" verses, just Repeating the words doesn't take Away the frightening tightening in my Chest, not at first. But if I persist, If I sing a psalm or a hymn, If I calmly breathe and do the Next right thing, the fear will Often lift. And when it comes back I repeat The process again. When the server walked by our table he
Greeted my companion and me, and I Noticed that his name tag said, "Lucky." I suppose everyone asks about his Name, for I did, He said that he was named after his Grandfather, the only other "Lucky" he has ever met. I told the unique young man that I don't belive in luck but in the Lord's blessings. And then I simply couldn't let the Opportunity pass and told him, "But this is your lucky day," and I tied a Gospel bracelet to his wrist. We laughed. I noticed that he was still wearing the beaded Band when we left, a colorful reminder that it Actually wasn't Lucky's lucky day, but a Blessed one.
