Drive thru at the library, I noticed
Four ladies with clipboards urging the
Patrons to sign their petition.
They were promoting women's
Rights.
But at whose expense?
I was opposed to their agenda, but
Not to the women themselves.
I lowered my car window and
Asked one of the gals a question.
"Are you standing up for all
Women's rights?"
She wasn't sure how to respond.
I continued, "If a baby in a mother's
Womb is a girl, do you stand up for
Her right to live?"
The lady skirted my question and
Emphasized that women need to
Have control over their own
Bodies.
I shared the story of my friend, Wendy.
She was urged to abort her baby due
To being treated with chemo drugs.
She refused and Nathan was born
Perfect.
Our conversation was not hostile.
"We can disagree without being
Disagreeable," I told the woman.
I commended her for being
Passionate about her cause.
"I'm just as passionate about
Saving babies," I said.
Even though I didn't sign her
Petition, Rebecca graciously
Accepted my tract.
Could she sense that I wasn't
Expressing animosity, but
Care and concern?
Could she tell that my smile was
Genuine?
