Do you find pleasure in simple things? I do. And I thank God for them. The aroma as I snap the lid Off of my coffee container, The first white flakes of the season, A friendly snowman standing by our Mailboxes, welcoming us as we collect Our mail. An unexpected note slipping out from The grocery ads. An inspiring book from the library, A crossword puzzle, A cozy blanket, A luscious pear that drips juice Through my fingers as I bite into it. The glorious Hallelujah Chorus, A restful night's sleep, A hug. And a "new" Christmas jacket from Good Will. It's my color. It's fuzzy and festooned with Snowmen, just my size and Just my price. I feel festive when I wear it. Whoever donated the jacket would be Pleased to know how much her Hand me down pleases me. |

Because of Covid my friend is
Confined in her facility, not just To her room, but because of her Limitations, to her wheelchair as well. She inspires me. "When I feel lonely or sorry for Myself," she told me, "I remember How Anne Frank was closed up in Her small quarters for months on End, and I'm grateful." If we look, we can always find folks In more dire straits than our own. And after we pray for them we are Able to thank God for His goodness To us.
In years past I would be busy
Planning Christmas events. I would welcome at least 3 or 4 small Groups to my home, bake cookies and Purchase a 5 dollar gift for our fun Exchange. But not this year. Even Christmas with my kids is up in The air. I hesitated to pull the Christmas Boxes from my garage to decorate, But once I got started I became Inspired. I actually bought a new garland for My mantel. If my holidays will be solitary, I may as Well surround myself with the Festive trappings that I enjoy. I need the Christmas spirit to buoy my Spirits. It's worth decorating even if it's just for Me. When it doesn't distort the
Meaning, I find solace in Personalizing a Bible verse and Sensing that God is speaking Directly to me. I inserted my name in Isaiah 46:4: "Dorothy, even to your old age when Your hair turns slate gray, Even then I am He. I will sustain you. I have made you. I will carry you. I will rescue you. Even to your old age, Dorothy, And beyond."
