The furtive mom must have placed her
Newborn very carefully on the steps that Led up to the Chinese factory. As she quickly ran home in the Dark she must have known that her Foundling would be found. I can only guess at her distress. But because the mother was willing to Give up her infant, the little one became My granddaughter. Tears well up when I try to express how Much I love her. My words fall short. I want my granddaughter to know that she Wasn't unplanned, that before she was even Born, God had already planned her for us. I wish her birth mom could know that her Hidden treasure was found, that her hard Choice was the right one. I wish she could know the beautiful woman Her baby has become. I wish I could thank her and let her know that Our dear Lia is turning 23 today. "Will you come along?" I asked my
Friend. "I want to surprise Janie." * It was her 83rd birthday, and Because of her poor vision, she is Mostly confined to home. "Yes, I will!" As Deanna and I climbed the stairs to Her apartment we sang "Happy Birthday." And in our hands we carried cake, Flowers, a hot cup of coffee and cards. Janie was taken aback. And when I read the cards to her, Tears moistened her wrinkled cheeks. We told her she looked lovely in her Pretty blouse. "I dressed up a bit just in case I Had company. And then you came." Deanna and I left with a sense of Gratitude and relief. If we hadn't taken the time to stop by, Our dolled up friend would still be Sitting there. waiting. *Not her real name. Since we lived hours apart for years,
It was a beautiful surprise when my Grandson got a job in Columbus. Now he is able to join me for Supper on Thursday nights and Sit beside me in church. I enjoy hearing him sing along With the worship music. How many grandmas have that Privilege? He is turning 25 today. But since his job took him to Boston for a couple weeks, I'll Need to celebrate him from afar. I'll sing to him on the phone. But love spans the distance. Happy Birthday, Paul. Your cake awaits.
My baby's baby is 24 which explains my
Gray hair, My crows feet, My furrowed brow and my Smile lines (with a few frowns thrown in.) Happy Birthday Paul Min! |
