My friend had never dined at the State Park lodge, so I drove her there on a Recent sunny morning. The view from the dining room overlooking The lake was spectacular. It was a beautiful backdrop for our Stimulating conversation. We ate slowly and talked rapidly trying to Share our deep thoughts before we forgot them. Our friendly waitress was kind, indulging Our requests to customize our entrees. As we were ready to dig into our food, I asked If she had a prayer request. She didn't hesitate as some servers do. "An anniversary is almost here," she said. "It will be ten years since my son was killed in An accident. He was my only child." For a moment my friend and I were Stunned into silence, and then we began to Express words of compassion. For years she was mad at everyone, our Waitress told us. But finally God drew her back, and she's "Okay" with her son's death now, and With Him too. "I'm able to thank God for the Seventeen years we had together." Spontaneously, the three of us clasped our Hands around our elegant table with The lake view, and I prayed for our dear New friend who had hid her pain with a lovely smile. She thanked us, and then thanked us again, And again. It's an anniversary the mom will never forget, and God showed her that He remembers it too. |
