A memoir of a widow.
I looked forward to reading it, to
Take part in a fellow widow's journey.
But it was a draining experience.
The book was 415 hefty pages, a
Long tme to accompany the
Sufferer in her despair.
I plodded along hoping to see that her
Heaviness would lighten, that a fragment of
Faith would poke through her
Grief cloud which she described as
Being black without hope, but
The breakthrough never came.
My time wasn't wasted, however.
Reading the author's bleak account
Gave me an understanding and
Sympathy for those women who
Face their fate without Jesus,
Who struggle through their
Aloneness alone.
