Realize we are quite a diverse bunch.
Old, middle-aged, single and married,
One of us blind,
Another needing a walker, a
Mother with a four year old daughter.
It would seem we have nothing in common,
But we do.
We comprise the prayer chain.
We're linked together by our commitment o
Pray each day for requests called into the
Prayer line at church.
When a husband has cancer, or
A child's in jail, or
A family member faces surgery, the
Concerned ones call the line for help.
Our members retrieve the requests and
Then intercede for the needs.
We're a support team behind the scenes working
Without fanfare, many not even
Aware that we're here.
We may get updates, but usually the
Outcomes are known only to God.
Our commission is simply to pray.
It's a lofty responsibility, a
Hard one that takes discipline.
Jack always said that prayer isn't the
Least we can do, but the most we can do.
It's why we're on call.
Our unlikely little band of sisters has the
Most vital assignment of all.
