I was hoping for snow, And so when I opened my Blinds this morning and looked Out on a white world, I was Like a kid. I pulled on my boots, My bulky coat, my Blue stretchy gloves and opened The door. I wasn't the first to venture out this Morning. I saw animal tracks, large and Small. Some were rabbits for sure, Giving away their hiding places Behind the bushes. The pond was almost hidden, too, Disguised with its cold white blanket. Just a small circle of water remained in The middle where four ducks Kept company. Crunch is a perfect word to describe My feet tramping down the snow as I Walked along the concealed soft path. For a few moments, crunch, crunch, Crunch, was the only sound I heard as I trecked alone. I stopped at the wooded area and Just stared at the trees, Transformed with their White winter coats. I tried to experience every bit of Splendor in my muffled Snow globe world, Knowing before long it would all Disappear. But duty (and hunger) called me back. And once again Inside my cozy home I Filled my tummy with hot oatmeal Sprinkled with cinnamon and brown sugar. |
