It's raining this morning.
But as I've aged, I've learned to
Lower my expectations for
Christmas.
Many traditions have slipped
Away.
Gifts seem unimportant, and
Family means everything.
The day we celebrate doesn't
Really matter.
This year, for my family, it will be on
New Year's day.
Covid upended my holiday plans.
I skipped baking cookies.
I missed festive events.
And now on Christmas morning, my
House is quiet.
But not for long.
I'll ask Alexa to play my favorite carols,
Familiar and filled with hope.
I'll watch for God's
Surprises throughout the day.
He always shows up.
Whether you are alone this morning or
Surrounded by family, I wish you
All a blessed hopeful Christmas.
