It's called the "Tail of the Dragon" because Of all the curves on the mountain road. To be exact, there are 318 of them in just Eleven miles. It's a motorcyclist's paradise, a right of Passage. They speed around the sharp curves alone, or In droves. They take chances. Each year two or three bikers lose their Lives in the process. I guess the thrill is worth the risk. I was wary about taking that route to our Vacation destination because I have a Queasy stomach. But I wasn't the driver. I was just the rider and I had no Choice but to be brave. And I took a motion sickness pill, Just in case. Several photographers were Stationed along Route 129 to take our Pictures, and then posted them on The internet. We waved at each of them. And I did it! I completed the "Tail" without a hitch, and was Feeling a bit smug about maneuvering the Curves twice without getting sick. But a pair of bikers burst my bubble. I can never buy a t-shirt bragging that "I Survived the Tail of the Dragon", for According to them, I cheated. I did it "in a cage." And this is my last vacation poem. |
