Do folks iron anymore? I still do. Two tops were hanging on my Closet door waiting to be Pressed. Since I had extra time today, I tackled my task. I placed the shirts one at a time on My trusty ironing board that I had Pulled out of its hiding space in my Hallway wall. I used my spray bottle to moisten The fabric and then pressed the Wrinkles away with the iron that Once belonged to Mom. It does a better job than any of The newer ones I've tried. While I worked, my mind was Distracted from the gloomy news That seems to pervade the very Air we breathe. I was pleased to see my progress as I moved my iron from the collar, to The sleeves and then down to The back and the front of my shirt. As I pressed I allowed my mind to Wander, to flit from thought to Thought not dwelling on the Dreary ones, but the pleasant ones. And when I hung my freshly pressed Garments in my closet I felt a sense of Accomplishment for a job well done. Ironing is much more than just removing Wrinkles. |
