Gave me a small "grief bag."
One of the items inside was a
Tiny bottle, and inside the
Bottle was a scroll, and on the
Scroll was printed a Bible verse.
I placed the clear miniature vessel on
"Jack's shelf" along with his flag,
Picture, and other mementos.
But today, I wrapped the bottle in
Tissue paper, tied it with a ribbon
And took it with me to the
"Viewing" of a friend.
His widow is my friend, too, and as
I finally reached the front of the
Line where she was standing by
The casket,
I hugged her and placed the
Gift in her hand.
I had time for only a few words with
Her, but the ones inside the
Bottle were more important
Than mine.
"You keep track of all my
Sorrows. You have collected all
My tears in your bottle. You
Have recorded each one in
Your book." (Psalm 56:8)
Perhaps LaVon will place the
Bottle on her own special
Memory shelf for David.
And perhaps one day she will
Take the gift to another viewing
And pass it on to another widow
Who needs to know that she counts,
That God counts her tears too.
