I decorated my little tree this afternoon. Without its decorations it resembles a Charlie Brown tree, so I need to add The ornaments carefully to hide the Empty spots. I worked slowly, moving at my own pace. I had no reason to race. As I studied it from every angle I Remembered how the girls Used to help. Their cut out paper snowflakes and Handmade crafts gave it a tender Touch. But now, I stick with a red, white, and Silver theme trying for symmetry. The first year Jack was gone, I couldn't Bear to put up a tree. Last year I began again, and now I Find pleasure in the task. Tonight I sit in my tree-lit living room watching A predictable syrupy Hallmark holiday movie Sipping a mug of cider and munching on Pop corn. Now that the acute pain is gone I'm developing Christmas traditions that I can actually Enjoy alone. |
