It's come to a head now, The head of poor Colonel Crawford. Along with other monuments his Statue has been decapitated. I have a personal interest since I grew up in Crawford County, and I shopped in Bucyrus where his Statue, now headless, stands. In school we learned that the Colonel was both a friend and foe to The Indians who eventually Tortured him and burned him at The stake. I found it hard to read the gory details. I imagine the frontiersman thought he Was just doing his duty. I don't know whether or not he deserved his Drastic demise, but I don't judge him by Today's standards. With the present mindset, no Statue is safe. Perhaps I should bring my Patio frog inside. |
