Driving home from upstate, I Surmised that the season was Surely at its peak, The peak of red, orange, And yellow hues, The peak of wonder, The peak of gratitude. Fall's forest fireworks, exploding colors, Lined the highway all the way, One gasp producing finale after Another, And then another. I shook my head in disbelief. I actually cried. Autumn's demise is Certain now, and my appetite for Its grandeur has been satisfied, Satiated. I'm ready now to let the season Rest in peace, and wait For its beauty to be resurrected once Again next fall. |
