Her twin lived only a few hours, and Because of the oxygen administered to Tiny Peggie, she was left blind. Her vision was destroyed but not Her spirit. Because of her parents' sacrifices she Succeeded in school and college, and Because she met Jesus she Has succeeded in life. She taught English for 32 years. She taught my daughters. Actually, she's a legend in our School. Stories about Miss Bell are almost Beyond belief. (Like the time she randomly extended her Hand in the air to make a point and caught A tennis ball that someone had tossed.) But her life has been a challenging one. She escaped a burning building where Scores of people died, her hand clutching that Of her friend so tightly that She broke several of his bones. Her fiancee lost his life shortly before Their wedding. She faced discrimination and law suits. She endured one type of cancer, and Then another. But as she shared her story, Peggie Described a faithful God, One who taught her to walk by faith and Not by sight. As we listened we were overwhelmed by Peggie's willingness to accept her blindness as A gift from God. And Peggie shared that she is overwhelmed, too, by The thought of what lies ahead. When she is welcomed home, the very First face she will ever see is That of her Savior. |
