I enjoy wearing the ring. It had a history long before I Received it. When Jack was stationed in Vietnam, His friend owned the precious stone, A purple star sapphire, and Jack Pestered him till he was willing To sell it. The man also owned a monkey, who Grabbed the treasure and stuck it In its mouth. Jack grasped the creature by the Neck and told his friend to retrieve it Or else. Fortunately, both the monkey and Sapphire were spared and Jack Eventually had it placed in a beautiful Setting for me. It takes just the right overhead light shining At the proper angle to see the six points of The star radiating from the center of the gem. Each time I discover it, I'm delighted all Over again. When I slipped the circle on my finger Today, I clasped my hand over it and Held it tightly to my heart. I realized again that it's not the ring I Dearly treasure, but the One who gave it to me. |
