Hadn't been so cold and windy.
But the chill factor was brutal and he
Was just wearing a hoodie as he
Juggled the Puppy for Sale sign and danced
On the corner like a marionette on a string.
I made excuses not to stop, but finally gave in and
Picked up a cup of hot chocolate.
I parked my car by the corner and carried the
Beverage to him along with a tract.
His name was Cam and he gave me a big
Grin and a hug.
I drove on, feeling a bit smug liked I'd done
My duty for the day.
Shortly I spotted a man holding a
Homeless sign and I complained to the
Lord, "When is enough, enough?"
Apparently I hadn't reached my limit because
I found myself turning my car around.
When I opened the window the man rushed
Up and said, "How can I pray for you?"
What a shock!
I told him, "That's what I was going to ask you."
"Bless you," he said as I gave him a bill and
A tract.
I don't know when enough is enough.
I guess it depends on the nudge.
But today I drove straight home hoping that
Two good deeds were sufficient.
