To sing?" I asked our small group which
Meets at my house.
"Only one," a gal responded.
"Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus."
She then shared the reason for her
Request.
"Nine years ago on this day I was
Sitting beside my husband holding
His hand. I had been his caregiver for
Fourteen years and I sensed it was
Almost time to say good-by.
I began singing to him:
'Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face, and the
Things of earth will grow strangely dim in
The light of His glory and grace.' *
When I got to the very last word Jack took
His last breath here and his first in heaven."
We were awed at our sister's story and by
The Lord's tender timing.
The music wasn't in my hymnal but I
Managed to pick out the melody on the
Piano, and the seven of us sang the
Beautiful words with new appreciation and
Meaning.
And whenever I hear them again I will
Picture Janet holding her husband's hand
And singing him home.
