It was another Sunday service at the Senior facility, and I was presenting my Object lesson. I showed them a broken knife and Said, "I wanted to throw it away but my Husband stopped me. He said it Was still useful. I wanted to dispose of His old shirt, but Danny said we could Use it as a rag. He convinced me that The chipped plate was still functional As well." My husband was absolutely right. I didn't toss the items in the trash. And I told the aged group that old Folks, too, may seem chipped and Thread worn and used up, But God can still use them. I mentioned Patti, my 89 year old Friend who is visually impaired, but Who still cheers up people in Nursing homes. I also used George as an example. He is in his nineties and so frail, but His smile and kind words lift the spirits Of everyone he meets. And who can pray more earnestly than A battle scarred seasoned saint? When we become limited, God provides Jobs that match our limitations. We're never useless if we're willing to Be used. And now when I serve food on the Damaged plate, I will be grateful for A God who doesn't discard us when We're frayed and worn out. Our Father delights in continuing to Use us, chips and all. |
