Teenager,
Brash,
Headstrong and
Rebellious.
She left, headed west, and
Made poor choices.
After men and babies,
The prodigal found herself
Destitute and on her own.
She tried once to come home
But it didn't work, and she
Was off again.
Years passed.
While Mom prayed, her daughter
Strayed until one day she found
Her way into rehab, a place of
Refuge, a place where she
Faced Jesus head on, He won, and
She put her trust in Him.
She's back home for good, now,
Employed at a supermarket and
Helping her elderly mother who
Never once stopped praying and
Loving.
In church today I sat with the
Never-give-up-on-your-daughter mom as
We watched her lost and found child
Proclaim her faith by being
Baptized.
Together we rejoiced, and the wasted
Years no longer seemed so long.
