Innocent about death.
After their dad died, my little
Girls had questions:
"How can I sleep tonight since
Daddy's dead?"
"Can Daddy see us?"
"Who will take care of us if
You die too?"
Their observations were insightful:
"You only need one pillow, now,
Momma."
"It's like Daddy's at work and
He's never coming back."
"You're a widow."
"Daddy won't have wrinkles like
Grandpa."
"I could cry for Daddy, but it
Wouldn't do any good. He
Can never come."
"Now we have two heavenly
Fathers."
Their questions were jarring,
Their insights profound.
But while grownups sob at
Their loss,
God blesses children with the
Ability to let it go
And run outside to play.
